Melissa Ghiette
Melissa Ghiette (°1987) is een Belgisch beeldend kunstenaar, wonend en werkend in Gent. Ghiette begon aan de Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam met de ambitie om als graficus haar strepen te verdienen. Na een tijdje zag ze het echter “groter” en maakte de overstap naar Beeldende Kunst. Na het behalen van de bachelor in deze discipline trok ze naar het KASK in Gent om haar plastische vaardigheden te perfectioneren en een master Beeldhouwkunst op zak te steken. Haar werk bestaat vooral uit dynamische installaties die vaak uitgroeien tot eigenzinnige constructies. Haar werkproces begint met het categoriseren van feiten en fabels, gevoelens en werkelijkheden, maatschappelijke gebeurtenissen en alledaagse onnozele situaties. Hierna volgt er een selectieprocedure die zal uitwijzen welke plastische vormgeving het ontwerp krijgt en in welke constructie het uiteindelijk zal worden gegoten en geëtaleerd. Ghiette speelt graag met verschillende materialen, designs en industriële elementen in haar ontwerpen. Een kunstwerk is volgens haar niet bedoeld om als passief object te fungeren. Integendeel, een sculptuur of installatie, is een dynamische en flexibele identiteit, die één wordt met de omgeving en haar entourage bespeelt.
Melissa Ghiette( 1987) is a Belgian visual artist, living and working in Ghent. Ghiette started at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam with the ambition to earn her stripes as a graphic artist. After a while, she saw it “bigger” and made the switch to Visual Arts. After obtaining a bachelor's degree in this discipline, she went to KASK in Ghent to perfect her plastic skills and to earn a master's degree in sculpture. Her work mainly consists of dynamic installations that often grow into idiosyncratic constructions. Her work process starts with the categorization of facts and fables, feelings and realities, social events and everyday silly situations. This is followed by a selection procedure that will determine the material , the design and the construction in which it will ultimately be cast and displayed. Ghiette likes to play with different materials, designs and industrial elements in her oeuvre. According to her, a work of art is not intended to function as a passive object. On the contrary, a sculpture or installation is a dynamic and flexible identity that becomes one with the environment and plays with its entourage.

De La Krwak, een invasieve kikkersoort, niet kwakend.
Hun DNA is een mix van het bombastische van Delacroix's ontwerpen en Manga karakteristieken.
Hun dril werd overspoeld door golven van Oosterse en Westerse culturen en technieken.
Deze eigenzinnige wezentjes, rechtstreeks uit de Fabels van La Fontaine 2.0. en vreemde verhalen, bouwen langzaam maar zeker aan hun totem.
Wat is culturele afkomst vandaag? Wat is toe-eigening? Is Delft's blauw niet gewoon Chinees blauw?
En wat doet die kikker daar?

Life is the succession of events, silences and phases. Everything is constantly in motion, after hectic comes calm, after light comes darkness, after impressive comes simplicity. One is only expressed through the other and eventually all goes by and all is relative.
Topics in the drawings can be anything because they are all equally important or unimportant.
The moment in which something happens or nothing happens is drawn.

Johannes Elebaut is an interdisciplinary artist based in Ghent, Belgium. He has a background in interior and graphic design. He started in 2020 developing an art practice in collage making, photography, printing and installation.
Constantly updating and reinterpreting images from his archive. Collecting random fragments from old books, envelopes, archives & files. Then sorting them by colour, age, patina & shape. After some time and playing with compositions he freezes them, a final glue day.
The process continues after he photographs the collages, which are then again used in new works with different printing and representation techniques. He searches for a certain balance in composition, color, material & spatiality.
For raam135 he created a new work on site. LIGHTBOX_01, is a prototype to test how the images and collages interact with light. They will change over time and leave a glowing print during the dark hours of the day . This work is built on site and inspired by the context, the wolterslaan.
He made a collection of photographs on regular walks in our street of curbstones, masonry bonds, and transitions between the facades. They were then cut and pasted into a new body of work. The work will change in the coming weeks and leave a shimmer in the evening in the Wolterslaan.

Ysaline Ophoff, afgestudeerd aan LUCA School of Arts Brussel als architect, besloot om haar fascinatie voor ambachten in de praktijk om te zetten en reisde naar de Braziliaanse Amazone in 2019. Na een onderdompeling in verschillende traditionele mandweeftechnieken bij lokale mandenwevers werd balancê geboren, een raakvlak tussen ambacht en kunst.
Met balancê wil ze verhalen tastbaar maken door onderzoek te doen naar lokale traditionele mandweeftechnieken die stilaan verdwijnen. Haar intentie is om dit immaterieel cultureel erfgoed te valoriseren en te waarborgen. Ze tracht de waarde van traditie en cultuur om te zetten naar nieuwe vormen en objecten.
Ysaline kiest ervoor uitsluitend met lokale reststromen te werken. Momenteel concentreert ze zich op ‘ghost gear’ (verlaten, verloren of weggegooide touwen en netten uit de visindustrie die de oceanen vervuilen) en afvalmaterialen van vissers/havens in de Algarve in Portugal. Ze ontrafelt en wast de bij elkaar gesprokkelde touwen. Ze experimenteert met hoe bepaalde materialen mee- of tegenwerken en tot verrassende resultaten leiden.
De collectie Coral is een ode aan traagheid en traditionele ambachten, en een oproep tot ecologische bewustwording.

Ysaline Ophoff, a graduate of LUCA School of Arts Brussels as an architect, decided to put her fascination for crafts into practice and traveled to the Brazilian Amazon in 2019. After an immersion in various traditional basket weaving techniques with local basket weavers, balancê was born, an interface between craft and art.
With balancê she wants to make stories tangible by researching local traditional basket weaving techniques that are gradually disappearing. Her intention is to valorise and safeguard this intangible cultural heritage. Ysaline tries to convert the value of tradition and culture into new forms and objects and chooses to work exclusively with local residual flows.
She is currently focusing on ghost gear (abandoned, lost or discarded fishing ropes and nets that pollute the oceans) and waste materials from fishermen / ports in the Algarve, Portugal. She unravels and washes the gathered ropes. She experiments how certain materials cooperate or counteract and lead to surprising results.
The collection Coral is an honouring to slowness and traditional crafts, and a call for ecological awareness.

is het fysieke uitstalraam van randwerk en vrienden. randwerk nodigt uit en cureert samen met de vrienden het beeld in het raam.
raam 135 biedt een publiek. randwerk onderzoekt en bevraagt voornamelijk de rol van randen. Fysieke randen zoals hoe ruimte wordt gemaakt door zijn grenzen en afbakeningen. Randen tussen verschillende schalen en disciplines. Anderzijds de onzichtbare grenzen in relatie tot de structuren en systemen die ten grondslag liggen aan de hedendaagse samenleving in lokale en mondiale contexten. randwerk pleit voor een progressieve cultuur, de toekomst is pluralistisch, meerstemmig.
